Bangalow Road

Situated in the Northern Rivers, CLA and Son Studio collaborated closely on the relationship between landscape and building to nestle this home within the busy streets of Byron Shire.

The concept vision for the landscape was to design a garden that connects back to nature, and provides a sense of seclusion and privacy from busy street frontages.

The aim was to use an entirely native planting palette to create a refined sense of place.  A swathe of Banksia integrifolia, serrata & robur form a soft interface between Architecture and surrounding landscape that allow sunlight to filter in & views to filter out.

Structurally the site required built elements – timber fencing & stone clad walls that provide privacy while allowing internal gardens and courtyards space to breathe, a balance of enclosure and openness.

Thank you Scott & Kel, it’s been a pleasure getting to know you both and a privilege to design another garden for you with such an amazing team.
