This project was a renovation of an original Brunswick Heads beach cottage, the architecture and gardens a thoughtful response to its coastal setting.
A series of intimate gardens spaces including roof gardens & a garden void connect uniquely to the 4 split levels of the home, to create a sense of immersion for the family.
A considered materials palette of locally sourced basalt stone, as well as Bolzano sandstone paving from Eco Outdoor provide elements of texture & depth highlighted against refined off-form concrete & rich timber facades.
Conceptually, the pool is inspired by natural swimming holes and waterways found throughout the Northern Rivers region. It is realised through its circular form and deep green glass mosaic pool tiles.
Native Banksia integrifolia tree’s feature throughout the gardens, connecting the home to its wider surroundings. A mix of native and exotic shrubs and grasses create an informal wilderness that envelops the home and anchors it within a quintessential Australian streetscape.
